TGIF: December is here!
Lafarge Lake already looks amazing with a Christmas display rivaling Van Dusen Gardens, Rocky Point Pier will light up this evening with Santa making a pre-Christmas cameo appearance, and all our cities are gradually displaying their full Christmas spirit. In the midst of all this light and celebration are the dark homes where people cannot enjoy the season, and those amazing other people who do their darndest to ensure that Christmas does extend to the lonely, poor, sick and struggling men, women and children. I am listening to my favorite CBC program today as they use all the air time to raise money for the many food banks in the Lower Mainland. We can argue as to why we need food banks, but let’s get behind these guys who work all year to make life better for those who need the basics - food and supplies.
When the Christmas train rocks into Pitt Meadows, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody, remember the train run is raising funds for food banks. Whatever we can do is welcome, whether it is our volunteer time or money.
We want to thank our clients who enable us to support our local causes year round. The Children’s Miracle Network benefits from every sale, Shane is out selling Christmas trees today for Aunt Leah’s Place, and our entire RE/MAX office supports Zajac Ranch, and is looking forward to seeing the Hawthorne Lodge renovation and expansion. Our REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive just finished collecting blankets and warm clothes for those without a roof over their heads.
It is very easy to be part of the fabric of every aspect of our community when there are so many great residents spearheading these projects. So...we salute you for being in the true spirit of Christmas giving year round. Making a difference in another person’s life is our real legacy.
We live in a great place - enjoy the start of the Christmas season.
Let’s make our community proud and together keep all our citizens covered.
-Michelle, Sheila and Shane.
